4th January 2010!!!!!

Hey!

Wow it's the first show for 2010 - can you believe it? I can't.

Anyway on the 4th January (Monday) It's another show in the 'The Kids Are Alright Summer series', the New Years show!!! I'll be playing some interviews that I did on random people about their New Years resolutons, and we can see if there are any common themes throughout the new years resolutions that youth are making this year. I'll also be letting you know about a few big events in 2010 that you NEED to know about if you're a youth living in the North Island.

So tune in, or go to communityradio.co.nz

Talk to you soon!

28th December

Hi everybody!

Ok so LAST week it was the second week of 'The Kids Are Alright' summer series, and the main theme is 'best of: 2009' so last week it was some of the hilight interviews from 2009 which were Charlie Panapa (host of TV2's Whatnow and accolmplished stage performer) and Jacob Crown (student at Riverlea Stagecraft drama schoool).

THIS week on the 28th December it is continuing with the summer series and the best of: 2009... big Kiwi hits songs from 2009, PLUS bios of the bands and a little bit about the actual songs. There's going to be so much awesome music so you've GOT to tune into that one! And alongside that I will be continuing with the hilight interviews from 2009 with a Smokefree Rockquest interview.

And don't forget, during the summer series I'm not doing Daisy Days (the event guide) but you can check out the link list on the right hand side of the page here and there are links to heaps of websites where you can find lots of cool events happening in your area.

Ok so that's it for this week, have a merry christmas!!!

14th December

Hey guys!

Sorry AGAIN for taking so long to get to the blog :)

On Monday the 14th it will be the start of 'The Kids Are Alright - Summer Series'.
The Summer Series will go on for 5 weeks and is basically a series of shows over summer, and the reccuring theme is 'best of: 2009', so I will be playing you hilight interviews from 2009 tied in with new things in the youth world over summer, plus BIG HIT SONGS from 09 (by Kiwi artists of course).

To kick the summer series off I will be talking to Nicola Hart about the Directions School Of Dance end of year show 'It's Christmas Time!' Nicola is a student in both Jazz-Ballet and Hiphop.
And to tie in with Nicola's interview I will be playing you one of the hilight interviews from 2009 - Lynne Gabolinscy and Davis Palmer, which was one of the very first interviews EVER on the show!

Now in the summer series I've decided to give you a break from Daisy Days (the event guide), but what I will do is I will put links here on the blog, to websites where you can find whatever sort fo event or gig you're looking for, or you can just have a browse.

And one thing that has NOT changed is the music. I will still be playing you cool songs from New Zealand bands and music artists - because what would summer be without music to cruise to?

Talk to you soon!

7th December

Hey!

On the show on Monday I will be interviewing Rachel Burnett, who is a Waikato youth that is VERY involved in her community and does several things, but in this particular show we will be talking about shakespeare - Sheila Wynn, Junior shakespeare and Slip Of The Tongue.
DON'T go thinking "shakespeare is boring, I won't bother tuning in." - wait til you hear the interview, and the scenes that Rachel will tell us about....

Plus of course I'll have Daisy days (the event guide) and awesome Kiwi songs.

Talk to you soon!

30th November

Sorry I havn't gotten to the blog sooner - it's that time of year when I'm super busy getting ready for the christmas season.

This week on the show it's very sad.... it's James Clayton's LAST show EVER being a regular guest! Because, as you know, the show is about Waikato youth who are playing active roles in their communities, getting involved in things and having a positive impact - and although James is still doing that stuff, he has finished school now and he isn't really within the age range that this show is aimed at. However we will catch up with him sometime in 2010 to see how he's doing.

So as it's his last week we will be talking about the road to becoming a commercial pilot and how he plans to get there over the next 2 years.

And I didn't forget Daisy days (the event guide) and the awesome New Zealand songs.

Talk to you soon!

23rd November

This week on the show I'll be talking to one of my regular guests, Emma Ferry-Parker! (Qualified surf-lifesaver and vice-president of Canteen) We'll be catching up with her and talking about the recent Bandana Challenge, plus the start of the surf-lifesaving season.

AND I'll have Daisy days (the event guide) plus some very cool Kiwi songs.

Monday 4:00pm!!!

Talk to you soon...

16th November

Hey!!!

Ok, you know how this show's all about how youth make a positive contribution to the community? Well in the coming show (Monday) I will be talking to Lisa Jagoe who is really giving back to the community - through volunteering! I'll be talking to her about the sorts of things she volunteers for, the special children's christmas party and how volunteering isn't something you have to be tied to - you can do every single week OR you can just do it once every now and again.

I'll also have Daisy days (the event guide) and (of course) some awesome Kiwi songs.

4:00pm Monday - be listening!!

Talk to you soon...
